Affirming Christianity - The Basics

'The Basics' is the third course in SCM's Affirming Christianity series and is for those who are new to the Christian faith, as well as those who want to explore its building blocks afresh. Unlike many starter courses, 'The Basics’ does not attempt to cover every theological topic; instead it focusses on those which progressive Christians often think of as the touchstones of their faith. That God is love, that Jesus was born as a human, that he died and was raised for us, that faith means action, that God speaks through doubts, questions and diverse experience, and that community matters.

The course can be run directly from the booklet and is laid out to make it very easy to lead a group who have a booklet each. The Basics can either be run as a six session course or as standalone sessions.

The Affirming Christianity series explores the life of faith in Christ written by and for people who have shared, progressive values and want to grow from those foundations.
